GPS Units For APRS
The 12-channel receiver allows for continuous tracking of all visible satellites. And it’s WAAS capable, which means it can provide position accuracy of less than 3 meters. This incredible accuracy is possible without the use of an external DGPS beacon receiver. The GPS 16 also offers excellent
EMI/RFI performance for easy integration into systems that will be operated near mobile computing devices and wireless communications equipment.
*This unit is no longer in production, but can still be found at some retailers. Over $100.00
The GPS 18 includes a 12 parallel channel, WAAS-enabled sensor, available with either a PC or USB connection. The receiver includes an integrated magnetic base and is less than three inches in diameter.
*This is a new model, and can be had for just under $100,00
A more inexpensive alternative is a Delorme Tripmate. These come out of the box powered by batteries, and are designed to be used with a
laptop computer. There are two modifications nesseccary to bring it to it's full potential as a tracker, and those mods can be found HERE
*These are no longer produced but can be found used for around $40.00.
